1. Dubai is one of seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates.
2. You’ll find 25% of the world’s cranes in Dubai.  3. With the emirate’s constant expansion, there are roadworks and construction projects everywhere. 4. In order to work in Dubai, you’ll need to provide a 'clean' sample of blood as part of getting your residence visa and work permit. 5. In 1960, there wasn’t a single tarmac road in Dubai.

Burj Dubai, currently under construction, is set to be the tallest building in the world at nearly a kilometre in height. 18. Dubai is considered to be one of the safest cities in the world.

20. You can be jailed if you bounce a cheque.	21. You can be jailed if you’re found in possession of codeine, a painkiller.
22. You can be jailed if you wear revealing clothing.	23. There’s no postal delivery service in Dubai; your address is a PO box.
24. Watch out for red back spiders lurking in your garden or garage.  25. Drive-thru ATMs (cash point machines) are a real boon, especially during the scorching summer months. 26. According to press reports, Dubai generates the highest amount of waste per capita and has the largest ecological footprint in the world. 27. Although sun rich, there are currently no solar-powered homes anywhere in the Middle East.
28. Dubai is the 34th most expensive city in the world, according to an annual Mercer Human Resource Consulting report.
	29. You’ll probably wear a jumper inside and take it off as you go outside. 30. Dubai has the Middle East's only indoor real-snow ski slope.
31. Don’t be surprised when you don’t get change in the shops
32. Don’t be surprised when, one moment you live surrounded by sand, and the next, you’re living in a concrete jungle. And you haven’t moved a muscle.	33. Don't be surprised when you see men running across four lanes of highway wearing flip-flops and pushing bicycles.
34. You should expect to win a car every time you go shopping.	35. If you live in Dubai, your idea of housework is leaving a list for the maid.
36. You'll get used to using the cold water tap to get hot water during the summer, and vice versa.	37. If you’re a woman, expect to go to the front of every queue you encounter.
38. If you’re a woman, you’ll be stared at as if you’re the first woman to ever breathe.	39. If you’re a man, expect to hold hands with all your male friends.
40. You'll expect Dubai to eventually hold each and every world record.
